Small Business Experience Teaches Effective, Progressive Leadership
MADISON – State Rep. and 2nd District candidate Mark Pocan announced the broadcast of his first TV ad starting on Monday. “Lessons” highlights how building a successful business, while treating employees and customers fairly, applies to being an effective legislator. Pocan continues to run a union print shop in Madison that he opened 24 years ago. He released the following statement about the TV ad:
“My mom and dad were small business owners, and they taught me the value of building meaningful relationships and working hard for what you believe is right. Over the last 14 years in the State Assembly, I applied these lessons every day. I fought for my constituents, stood up for my progressive values and achieved real results on a wide range of issues.
“Whether it was cracking down on corporations that send jobs overseas or protecting women by providing emergency contraception for victims of rape, I worked hard to build support for laws that benefit my constituents.
“In Congress, I hope to take my experience as an effective legislator as well as my strong progressive values to continue fighting for working families back home in Wisconsin.”
State Representative Mark Pocan (D-Madison) is running for U.S. Congress in Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District. Since 1999, he has served in the State Assembly, winning accolades as a proven fighter and effective legislator for working people. He hopes to carry the torch of Wisconsin’s proud progressive tradition in the 2nd District, following U.S. Representative Tammy Baldwin’s decision to vacate the seat and campaign to become Wisconsin’s first female U.S. Senator.
